Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is AgingWELL different from home care or caregiving?

Traditional home care and caregiving typically focus on personal care and assistance with an individual's physical needs, such as bathing, dressing, medication reminders, mobility assistance, and ongoing supervision.

AgingWELL fills a different need. We support older adults living independently but could use practical help managing their home and everyday responsibilities. Our focus is on household support, everyday function, organization, and home safety, rather than personal or medical care.

If caregiving or medical services are needed, we're happy to help connect you with trusted community resources or licensed providers.

Can I choose the services I receive?

Yes. Your scheduled time is designed around the tasks that matter most to you. Whether your needs stay the same or change over time, we'll adjust your services to continue providing the support that's most helpful.

Will I have the same person each visit?

Whenever possible, you'll have the same trusted professional. Our goal is to provide personalized support while building meaningful relationships through trust, conversation, and consistency.

What happens during a Home Safety Evaluation?

A Home Safety evaluation is a personalized room-to-room evaluation designed to identify common safety concerns, fall risk areas, and opportunities for improvement throughout your home. AgingWELL carefully reviews each room using a detailed home safety checklist and provides practical recommendations to help create a safer, more functional living environment.

Do you install grab bars or make repairs?

No. We can assist with simple, non-permanent safety improvements, such as placing nightlights, securing rugs, reducing trip hazards, and other basic safety solutions. For larger modifications, we're happy to recommend qualified professionals.

Are you insured and certified?

Yes. AgingWELL is insured and owned by a Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist® and Functional Aging Specialist.

What is Functional Home Organization?

Functional Home Organization is about making your home work better for you. We help create practical, organized spaces that are easier to use, safer to navigate, and simpler to maintain. Services may include organizing kitchens, pantries, bathrooms, closets, bedrooms, paperwork, and other everyday living spaces, reducing clutter, improving accessibility, labeling frequently used items, and creating logical systems that support your daily routine.

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy. Simply contact us to schedule a complimentary phone or virtual consultation. We'll learn about your needs, answer your questions, and recommend the services that best fit your goals. From there, we'll schedule your first visit and provide any necessary client forms before services begin.

Can services change over time?

Your scheduled time can be used for any of our regular services, allowing each visit to be personalized around what matters most.

Is there a minimum time visit?

Yes. Regular home support visits have a two-hour minimum, allowing enough time to complete meaningful tasks and personalize your visit around your priorities. Larger moving and downsizing projects require additional scheduled time due to the scope of the project.

Will you assist with walking or transfers?

No. AgingWELL does not provide hands-on mobility assistance, including walking support, transfers, lifting, or physical assistance. Clients should be able to move about their home independently or with their own mobility device. If a higher level of physical assistance is needed, we're happy to recommend a licensed home care provider.

Do you offer ongoing visits?

Yes. Ongoing weekly visits can be scheduled based on your preferences and needs.

Do you provide transportation?

No. While we don't provide transportation, we're happy to help coordinate transportation through family members, trusted ride services, or local community resources whenever possible.

How long does a Home Safety Evaluation take?

Most evaluations take approximately 1½ to 2 hours, depending on the size of the home and the questions you have along the way. We take our time so you never feel rushed.

What happens after my Home Safety Evaluation?

At the end of your evaluation, we'll review our findings together and provide a summary of our recommendations. If you'd like assistance implementing simple, non-permanent safety improvements, you can schedule a follow-up visit. Larger modifications should be completed by a qualified professional.

What types of safety concerns do you look for?

We  observe common fall risk areas and everyday safety concerns throughout the home, including lighting, flooring, trip hazards, room by room safety, accessibility, furniture placement, and other practical opportunities to improve safety and function.

Will you make me throw things away ?

Never. You remain in control of every decision. My role is to help create functional, organized spaces that are easier to use, maintain, and enjoy.

What kinds of meals do you prepare?

Simple, nutritious meals based on your preferences and routine. Whether it's preparing a meal for the day or making a few meals ahead, we'll help make mealtime easier and more convenient.

Can you use recipes I already enjoy?

Absolutely. We encourage using your favorite recipes, family meals, and personal preferences whenever possible.

Will you shop for groceries first?

Yes. Grocery shopping can be included as part of your scheduled visit, or groceries can be ordered ahead and picked up before meal preparation.

Can errands be combined with other services?

Absolutely. One of the benefits of AgingWELL is the flexibility to combine errands with household support, meal preparation, home organization, technology assistance, or other services during your scheduled visit.

Do I pay separately for purchases?

Clients are responsible for the cost of items purchased on their behalf. Whenever possible, we can order items online together using your preferred payment method. If AgingWELL makes a purchase for you, a receipt will be provided and the exact cost will be added to your invoice. For your security, AgingWELL does not take possession of client credit or debit cards, PIN numbers, or banking information to make purchases.

What kind of technology can you help with?

We provide patient, one-on-one help with basic everyday technology, from smartphones and email to online forms, video calls, smart devices, and online shopping, helping you feel more comfortable with the technology you use every day.

What if I need help more than once?

That's perfectly okay. Technology often takes practice, and we're happy to provide ongoing support at a pace that's comfortable for you.

Do you help with moving preparation?

Yes. We provide hands-on support with sorting, organizing, packing, labeling, and preparing your home for a move. We can also help unpack and organize your new space to make settling in easier. AgingWELL does not provide moving services or heavy lifting.

What if I just need an extra set of hands?

That's exactly what AgingWELL is here for. Whether you need help tackling projects around the home, staying organized, preparing meals, running errands, or simply catching up on everyday tasks, we'll personalize each visit around the support you need most.

Do you provide companionship?

While companionship is not a standalone service, genuine relationships often grow through trust, conversation, and consistency. Whether we're working side by side or taking a few moments to enjoy a cup of coffee together, we believe kindness and meaningful connection are a natural part of personalized support.
